Village Green Heritage Center

The Village Green Heritage Center is free to visit, located in Downtown Palm Springs on Palm Canyon Drive. There are three main attractions; including Ruddy’s General Store, McCallum Adobe, and Miss Cornelia White’s House.It takes about 60 minutes to see everything.

1. The McCallum Adobe (1884) is the oldest building in Palm Springs, and features a rotating set of exhibitions on fascinating historic figures who lived in Palm Springs.

2. The Cornelia House is next door, constructed in 1893 by Dr Elwood White, the owner of the Palm Springs Hotel.Cornelia White then acquired the property in 1914, and made an addition in 1916. It was relocated to downtown in 1944 with yet another addition, and became the Palm Springs Historical Society upon her death in 1961.It was then moved to Village Green Park in 1979.

3. Ruddy’s General Store is a 1930s and early 1940s era store, with shelves crammed full of products from that era, including fly ribbons, sarsaparilla, hallmark cards, groceries, pipes and tobacco and herbs. There are more than 6,000 items in their 1930s packaging, with 95% still full of their original contents.
