Palm Springs is full of striking mid-century architecture, and the most famous example of this is the Elvis House Palm Springs. It’s situated on a cul de suc in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood, surrounded by other mid-century homes.
This neighborhood was once popular with Hollywood celebrities during the 1950s and 60s, who would flock to Palm Springs to escape the pressures of Los Angeles.
The Elvis House Palms Springs was designed by architect Robert Alexander, and constructed in 1960. The Alexander Construction Company was responsible for building thousands of dwellings in Palm Springs.
Elvis and Priscilla Presley leased the house for one year in 1967, and originally intended to marry here, before sneaking off to Los Vegas to escape the media.
Some unique architectural features include a sunken living room, circular living areas, stone walls, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking a pentagon shaped swimming pool with spectacular Santa Rosa Mountain views.
The Elvis House Palm Springs is located at 1350 Ladera Cir, Palm Springs, CA 92262, on a cul de sac. It is privately owned, but can open for tours. Please be discreet if photographing the house from the street.
