Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is in Port Angeles in Washington State, and is comprised of both a gallery and 5-acre sculpture park.

It's a short drive up to Beaver Hill to reach the Arts Center, with incredible views over Port Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The lower parking lot leads to a set of stairs and a 5 minute trail that ends at the Webster House Gallery. 

This semi-circular gallery hosts rotating artworks from local artists, and was constructed in 1951. A wall of windows overlooks a lush garden.  Visitors can also enjoy the adjacent courtyard with fountains and seating areas.

The 5-acre Webster's Woods Sculpture Park is outside the gallery, with a trail that passes 100 artworks in a forested area.  Visitors are provided with a checklist of sculptures to find in the forest.

1. Webster House Gallery courtyard.

A courtyard with a pond and water feature greets visitors as they enter the Webster House Gallery.  The gallery was originally built as a private residence in 1951 for Esther and Charles Webster. Esther was a prominent local artist, and Charles was founder of the Port Angeles Evening News.

2. Webster House Gallery.

The Esther Webster Gallery is on one floor, and the exhibits can be seen in roughly 30 minutes.  The artworks are from local and regional artists, and there are rotating exhibitions. There's also a gift shop at the entrance to the gallery.

3. Views of Port Angeles out the front of the gallery.

The front of the gallery has peep-through views of Port Angeles, the harbor, and Strait of Juan de Fuca.

4. Webster's Woods Sculpture Park.

Pick up a map at the gallery, to explore the 5-acre Sculpture Park through second growth forest at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. It takes roughly an hour to wander the dog friendly trail at the Sculpture Park, with 100 sculptures of constantly changing sculptures on display. There are exciting sculptures around every corner, some in the forest canopy, and others nestled amongst all the greenery. Note that the dirt path has some changes in elevation and stairs.

5. Views of Ediz Hook.

The best views at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, are at the northern end of the Sculpture Garden, where you can see the 3-mile Ediz Hook sand spit in the Strait of Juan De Fuca.
