Windjammer Park

Windjammer Park is a 28.5-acre waterfront park at the north end of Whidbey Island at Oak Harbor.

This beautiful park has a pirate-themed splash pad, lagoon and beach, and fun playground.

You can also enjoy a picnic while taking in the stunning views of the Oak Harbor waterfront.

5 best things to do at Windjammer Park

1. Shipwreck Shores Splash Park.

Spend a summer’s day at the free Shipwreck Shores Splash Pad at Windjammer Park, with a pirate ship, fountain feature and lazy river (check summer hours).  There are no lifeguards on duty, and dogs are not allowed.

Kids will love the splash pad, three fountains and water cannons, with lots of seating for parents. To get the water flowing through the lazy river and fountains, kids needs to step on a bright yellow button. The lazy river and fountain then flow for 3 minutes out of every 15 minutes.

Water is dumped from a bucket on the mast of the shipwreck.

2. Lagoon and beach.

The lagoon is just steps from the Splash Park at Windjammer Park, with a beach area and dock (but no lifeguards).

3. Bailey’s Playground.

Windjammer Park also has a fun playground, and a sheltered picnic tables overlooking the playground.

4.  Story Trail.

Stroll along the waterfront at Windjammer Park, and follow the interpretive signs for the “Story Trail” with excerpts from children’s books.

5. Oak Harbor Waterfront Trail.

Windjammer Park is also part of the 1-mile Oak Harbor Waterfront Trail.  You can start this trail at Flintstone Park, before passing Windjammer Park, heading inland to the Freund Marsh, then walking uphill for great views at the Scenic Heights Trailhead Park.
