1. Eat and shop at the Hollywood Highland Center.

Start at the entrance to the Hollywood Highland Center on Hollywood Boulevard.  This is a very crowded area and street parking is difficult, so consider alternative transport.

Walk up the sweeping staircase to the Babylon Courtyard

The Babylon Courtyard is at the top of the stairs, and has a refreshing spray pad and shaded tables and chairs for relaxing. It also has a towering archway with Egyptian motifs, flanked by two columns with elephants on top.  The Egyptian-themed design is influenced by a movie set from the 1915 silent movie Intolerance.   

Eat at the California Pizza Kitchen, Hard Rock Cafe, Johnny Rockets (burgers), or Lucky Strike (gastropub). Shop at Sephora, Lucky Brand Jeans, Aldo, Guess, or Skechers.  Indulge at the 25,000 square foot Sweet Hollywood candy store with novelty rooms full of treats.  See Japan House with a Japanese restaurant, library and exhibits that celebrate the Japanese culture. 

A second set of stairs leads to an overlook with views of the Hollywood Sign, and a sculpture of a yellow chaise lounge for tourists to sit on.  As you climb the stairs, pause to review the inspirational quotes on the ground from the Road to Hollywood art installation by Erica Rothenberg (2002).   

2. Go bowling at the coolest place in town.

Bowl at Lucky Strike's cool underground venue at the Hollywood Highland Center on Hollywood Boulevard.  It has bowling lanes, leading edge lighting and sound, a gastropub, and live music.  Book a lane.
